'I'm a
pro-choice pot smoker, and don't care if the whole world
knows.'
'You should be
proud of whatever you do. If you're not, you really
shouldn't be doing it at all. I'm a very pro-choice
pot-smoker, and I wouldn't dream of telling my children
that I didn't smoke pot. In fact, I wouldn't care if the
whole world knew. But I certainly won't stand any
dysfunctional, destructive behaviour going on in front of
my children. I think to be honest and open is really
important because, then, they have the capacity to
understand those things. I was brought up like that.'
Jade Jagger, Tatler,
April, 2001.

TV doctor Mark Porter said yesterday (Aug 14, 2000) he
believed cannabis was no more harmful than drinking alchol
or smoking.
The Watchdog Healthcheck presenter said that given a choice
he would rather see cannabis legalised than alcohol.
Although he did not consider the drug safe, Dr Porter told
Radio Times magazine that cannabis users were less likely to
end up in casualty departments.
'In our culture we think we're not having a good time unless
we're legless,' he said. 'If I could legalise one, tobacco,
alcohol or soft drugs, it would be cannabis.
'There's no doubt it is associated with long-term effects on
the brain, but I find it hard to believe cannabis is more
dangerous for personal health than alcohol or smoking.
A British Medical Association spokesman said they had not
taken a stance on whether cannabis should be legalised for
social purposes but they did back the development of
cannabis based drugs which have proven medical benefits.
